Local authors join nationwide celebration of independent bookstores

Forster's Book Garden in Bolton has announced that authors Kate Hilton, Kerry Clare, Jennifer Robson, Karma Brown, Rebecca Rosenblum, Bob Desaultes, Peter G Reynolds and Mary Scattergood will volunteer as guest booksellers April 29.
They will be at the store at 266 Queen St. South to celebrate Canadian Authors for Indies Day.
Authors for Indies Day is a nation-wide event organized by authors to show appreciation for independent bookshops (indies). Authors for Indies endeavours to increase customer traffic for the stores, showcase local writers and strengthen relationships between authors and booksellers. Authors will volunteer as guest booksellers to greet customers, recommend books and highlight the importance of supporting indies in communities. So far, more than 500 authors and 100 bookstores across the country have signed up to participate.
The staff at Forster's is excited to build on the tremendous success of last year's event. Activities planned for April 29 at the store include free refreshments; and draw prizes from local businesses like NobleToyz, Rovili Pet World, Black Tie Gifts, Good Health Oseopathy and Caledon Hills Brewery. There will be lots of great book talk, with the chance to meet great authors. This will be great for aspiring authors. Get writing/publishing advice from them. Ask them anything. What do bestselling authors read? How does one stay on task during the writing process? How does one avoid distractions when they're on a really great writing roll?
