Let the authorities do their jobs

As a person born in the ‘50s, I experienced a very positive time as a young person as the Second World War was over and everyone was enjoying a sense of prosperity, freedom and just a very positive time, with very little bad news on the radio, or TV if you had one.
And now, 100 years after the First World War started, and 32 years after we brought in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (1982), I honestly can't say we are any better, perhaps worse.
And I don't mean that we are so high-tech that we have abandoned all the old personal contact that we used to, and I really miss. I am referring to the fact that many places in the world are still at war, and brutal wars. And now we see the terrible events in Ottawa Oct. 22, where a young un-armed soldier is shot dead, and the very qualified and experienced senior soldier who took out the shooter was so humble (a Canadian thing), because he knew that this was still a very sad day for Canada.
And now, we Canadians want Big Brother to protect us from this ever happening close to where we live. In order to do that, our authorities have to be able to investigate and learn about all possible people. That in itself is very, very challenging, but they try their best. And we all want that so we can be safe in our country, right?
So why is it that when something like the G-20 happens, and everyone is told to stay away, then stuff happens and these very same people of authority now try to control the situation and then are so poorly treated by those of us that went there, even though we were told not to? We want it all, don't we? Well we can' have it both ways.
So let the authorities do their jobs. They have our best interests in mind.
