LCBO stores raise funds for Cope Service Dogs

The public can help support COPE Service Dogs by making a donation at a number of LCBO stores in the Greater Toronto Area.
Donation boxes will be displayed at checkout counters until July 16.
COPE Service Dogs is a registered, charitable, community organization that helps high school students become self-confident learners through training service dogs. Canines in the Classroom program is linked to the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum where students earn credits while learning essential literacy and workplace skills. The Caledon Chapter was launched last year. It currently has eight service dogs in training with students at Humberview Secondary School. The service dogs, once trained, are placed with life partners, primarily with mobility disabilities, to help them gain more independence.
“We appreciate the support we receive from LCBO, its employees and especially its customers,” COPE Executive Director Kathie Macmillan said. “LCBO's store network and supportive staff enable us to raise significant funds and increase public awareness of our charity.”
“As a socially-responsible, community-minded retailer, LCBO is pleased to partner with COPE Service Dogs and support a variety of worthy causes through the Giving Back In Our Community Fundraising Program,” LCBO President and CEO George Soleas commented. “Through the generosity of LCBO customers and the support of our staff, we help improve the lives of countless Ontarians and make a difference in communities across Ontario.”
COPE Service Dogs is one of the local charities which will benefit from LCBO's donation box program in 2016.
