La Cuisinez offers Middle Eastern and Lebanese dishes

Written By KIRA WRONSKA DORWARD

Emad Khairy knows his way around a kitchen.

Originally from Egypt, where he still owns and operates three restaurants, Emad has spent a lifetime as a successful entrepreneur in the restaurant and tourism industry in Canada, his home country of Egypt, and the United Emirates. Now he's turned his sights to Caledon East.

“I just had a feeling this would be the right place,” he says, when asked why he chose the small town. Already scheduled to look at other locations later that day, Emad knew immediately he had found what he was looking for in terms of where to open the family-run Middle Eastern restaurant, when he saw the future location of La Cuisinez.

La Cuisinez offers an assortment of Middle Eastern and Lebanese fare, a new and exotic food option in Caledon. Having opened only two weeks ago, Emad and his family were not expecting the welcome they received from the people of Caledon East. “Everyone was so friendly, so nice. I meet new people every day, and customers come in and tell us how much they enjoyed our food. They're even talking about us on the internet! I was not expecting that.” They've been so impressed with their reception in Caledon that Emad, his wife Mona, and his family of four plan to move from Mississauga in the next few months.

When it comes to his food, Emad spares no expense and believes that serving fare made of top-quality ingredients makes all the difference. For instance, the fries used in his poutine are top of the line, from Cavendish Farms. Having also tried their shawarma and homemade baba ghanoush, I was impressed with (both the quality and) the authenticity of the food. Best of all, La Cusinez caters to all palates, so comes spiced according to customer request.

After the holidays, La Cuisinez will be offering a delivery service, and in the summer, there will be an outdoor patio. Emad also hopes to slowly introduce daily specials from his home country of Egypt, bringing more welcome diversity to dining options in Caledon.

So, grab a little Middle Eastern Sun for the cold, dark days ahead. For the winter, hours are from 11 am until nine pm, seven days a week.  16502 Airport Rd., Caledon East.
