KISSES FOR TYPHOON RELIEF

KISSES FOR TYPHOON RELIEF There have been a number of efforts started around the world to assist people in the Philippines impacted by the recent Typhoon Haiyan, and Evelyn Hesjedahl, a Grade 2 student at Caledon East Public School was doing her bit Saturday as part of the annual Christmas Craft Show at the school. She put a collection of candy kisses in this jar, and invited people to guess how many there were. The effort raised $40, which will be sent to the Red Cross so it can be matched by the government. “I wanted to raise money so they can survive,” she said. “This is what I came up with. I wanted to do it with candies because I like candies.” There were 317 kisses in the jar. Photo by Bill Rea
