Nestled between various services and stores on ever-busy King Street is a brand-new optometry store for Bolton: King & Queen Opticians.

Owner Amen Singh, a long-time member of the Bolton community, just opened up shop last month and is excited to showcase everything he has to offer to the area.

Singh grew up attending school in Bolton at Humberview and said it felt right to return to the familiar community to open up his own store.

“I've opened up clinics before, but Bolton's different, it's a more tight-knit community, I've made lifelong friends here,” expressed Singh, reflecting fondly on his time spent here.

Singh went to optometry school at Seneca College, and after several years of working at a wide variety of stores and clinics, he finally decided it was time to open his first store from scratch.

He said that through his business, he aims to offer better eyewear options and frames people can truly take pride in, which he believes is missing from what's currently available.

At King and Queen Opticians, Singh has a wide variety of merchandise.

“Not everyone wants luxury, but I find that everyone wants fashion-forward glasses. I tried to curate our collection based on that,” said Singh.

They have brands such as Gucci and Prada and more budget-friendly yet stylish frames.

Singh wants everyone to find the perfect frame for them: “We don't want to forget that you wear the glasses, the glasses don't wear you.”

Because they offer such a vast variety of options, Singh says they cater to every demographic.

“We welcome the doors to anyone here. As long as you're willing to try on a pair of frames, we're willing to help you,” laughed Singh.

He shared someone looking for a repair on their frames, whether that be on the nosepiece or a loose screw, can come in and get it repaired free of charge.

They will even work on frames not sold at their store.

“If it's someone else's glasses, not an issue, bring it by and we'll try our best,” he said.

Beyond eyewear fitting and consultations, they also provide eye exams, aesthetics, contact fittings, geriatric services, dry eye therapy, and more.

Singh said when building his store, the number one thing he wanted to ensure was that it created a welcoming environment well-suited to the community of Bolton.

“Whether it be your general eye exam or an ongoing case with either yourself, your parents, your children, or if you're in a bind and you need your glasses fixed, we'll definitely be there for you,” said Singh. “That's why I opened this store.”

You can find King and Queen Opticians at 18 King St E, Bolton, open Monday to Saturday.
