KDO Piano Trio to perform at Chamber Concert

Caledon Chamber Concerts will present its next performance Dec. 2.
The concert will feature the KDO Piano Trio in an all-Brahms program. The Trio comprises violist Laurence Kayaleh, cellist Elizabeth Dolin and pianist Claire Ouellet.
Kayaleh has performed as guest soloist with many distinguished orchestras, including Zurich Tonhalle, Russian National Orchestra, National Symphony (Washington), Lamoureux (Paris) and Montreal Symphony Orchestra. She has recorded for NAXOS the complete works for violin and piano by N. Medtner, A Honegger and G. Catoire. Kayaleh plays a magnificent 1742 Pietro Guarneri of Venice which belonged to the eminent violinist and pedagogue, Carl Flesch.
Since her Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1985, Dolin is recognized as one of Canada's finest cellists, in demand as a recitalist and chamber musician throughout Canada and the U.S. and as a soloist with major Canadian orchestras. A founding member of several highly regarded ensembles (Les Cordes Romantiques, Duo Fouquet-Dolin, Reiner Trio), she has collaborated with such artists as Martin Beaver, Bernadene Blaha, Steven Isserlis and Pinchas Zuckerman. Dolin's large and varied discography includes works by Chopin, Coulthard, Debussy, Dolin (her father), Franck, Mendelssohn, Mozart, St-Saëns, Widor, Rachmaninoff and Vierne. She is Assistant Professor of Cello at the Schulich School of Music, McGill University, as well a Professor of Cello at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.
A native of Chicoutimi, Ouellet enjoys a brilliant career on the Canadian stage as well as abroad. A member of the Ouellet-Murray Piano Duo, Ouellet has made two recordings highly acclaimed by critics here and abroad. After graduating from the Conservatoire de musique du Chicoutimi she continued her studies in Paris. In 1994 she received her PhD in interpretation from the University of Montreal and in 1995 was appointed Accompaniment Professor at the Montreal Music Conservatory, specializing in violin and cello repertories.
The concert takes place at St. James' Anglican Church, Caledon East at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for students 16 years and younger and may be purchased in advance at Forster's Book Garden, Howard the Butcher and BookLore.
