June happenings at Caledon Seniors’ CentreBy Margaret and Bill Cunning Someone once said “June is the time of perfect young summer.” As spring slowly melds into summer and the wildflowers bloom along the roadside, it is as if the Creator's hand has tinted it all with a large paintbrush. When the insects hum around the blossoms and the birds warble in the trees, we realize Mother Nature is never silent, and we never tire of the sounds she creates. Enjoy this perfect time of year and join us at the Caledon Seniors' Centre for some of our outdoor activities. One trip to enjoy with your friends is the Bruch at the Globe Restaurant, followed by the Credit Valley train ride and tour of Orangeville Carvings, scheduled for June 5 from 9:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. The price is $103. Our In-House Games started May 6 and continue until June 20, with an Awards Luncheon June 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There are 20 events, and you can enter as many as you like. We offer everything from card games to table tennis, carpet bowling and golf, with lots of friendly competition. The price is $12 for games and luncheon. June 15 is Caledon Day, which is held in Caledon East. It is on from 2 to 11 p.m. The Caledon Seniors' Centre will have a booth with our jams and preserves, and we may also be selling ice cream. We would love you all to stop by and say “hello.” For further information on all programs and events, please check our website at www.caledonseniors.ca, contact us at 905-951-6114 or email us at caledonseniors@rogers.com As always, we welcome all seniors to our Centre for warmth and fellowship. The invitation to lunch Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is warmly extended at “your home away from home.” |
