Judy Rebick will address fundraiser

The HOPE project, an initiative by Family Transition Place (FTP), will be hosting its fall fundraiser at the Hockley Valley Resort Sept. 23.
It will feature renowned author, TV personality and activist for women’s rights Judy Rebick.
Rebick is a trailblazer, rich with stories and harrowing experiences that have paved the way to make the world a better place, especially for women. She has been an activist for women’s rights for the last 30 years, and acknowledges that although things have changed for the better, “Now a woman has to be competent in the workplace, take good care of the house, be a good mom and has to be thin and gorgeous as well.”
Why is that? She wonders if things are actually moving ahead.
Inspirational, refreshing and fiercely direct, Rebick will tell tales about her unconventional life, her perspective on working with Jian Ghomeshi and what’s in store for the “modern maiden” if everyone doesn’t stop to think about the future.
This event is an important fundraiser for FTP, as it generates approximately $70,000 in revenue; funds that are needed to help FTP deliver essential programs and services to the community.
Tickets are 60 per cent sold out and are available online at www.familytransitionplace.ca or by phone at 519-942-4122.
