Jones pleased Brown won his seat

By Bill Rea
Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Patrick Brown now has a seat in the Provincial legislature at Queen's Park, and that's good news for Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones.
Brown, who was elected party leader in May, won last Thursday's Provincial by-election in Simcoe North, replacing former MPP Garfield Dunlop, who resigned his seat, leaving an opening for Brown to run.
Jones called it “great news,” adding it didn't come as much of a surprise. She said she has family living in the riding, so she had some inside knowledge of what was going on in the campaign. She also said Dunlop had done a good job there, and Brown's former federal riding was right next to it, so voters there were familiar with him.
“It was a good win,” she said.
Jones is currently chair of caucus and PC Critic of the Attorney General. She said she expects there will be some changes to the various portfolios, but nothing has happened yet. But she also pointed out the departure of Christine Elliott creates as vacancy as health critic, and Jones said that's “fairly critical.”
