Join Credit Valley Conservation at the Pits to Parks Open House

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites the community to attend the Pits to Parks Open House on May 7, 2026. This event is an opportunity to meet with CVC staff, learn more about this important restoration project and provide your feedback. Drop-in anytime between 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Alton Legion, 1267 Queen St. W., Alton.

“We're planning to ecologically restore Pinchin Pit, a former aggregate site in Caledon,” said Jesse de Jager, director of parks, lands and community engagement at CVC. “Our goal is to transform this site into a future conservation area and we're sharing conceptual plans with residents.” 
CVC is advancing the ecological restoration of Pinchin Pit, with a vision to transform the 61-hectare site into a natural area that supports new forest, grassland and wetland habitats and nature-based recreational opportunities for the community. As part of this work, CVC will be sharing a conceptual design for Pinchin Pit to illustrate the proposed restoration approach and to gather input.

Building on the success of the Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area project, the Pits to Parks Restoration Project is anticipated to be a multi-year process involving the beneficial reuse of clean excess soil. CVC is committed to engaging with the community at key milestones throughout project planning, design and implementation.
