Jennifer Innis is vying for another position at Town Hall, like Councillor

By Bill Rea
Jennifer innis has spent years watching municipal affairs from within Caledon Town Hall.
Now she wants to get more involved.
Innis made it official earlier this month that she will be seeking election to Caledon and Peel Regional council this fall. She will be running for the Regional seat for Wards 3 and 4, which takes in Caledon East and much of the former Township of Albion.
This is the first time Innis has sought political office. She said she had been approached by people in the community to think about it.
“I feel like it's sort of the right time for me and my family and the community,” she said, adding she thinks it's time for some fresh perspectives at the council table. “I think it's time the demographics at council match the demographics of our community.”
And she said she's not worried about going for the Regional seat her first time out.
“I feel you can make more of a difference at the Regional level,” she remarked.
Innis has worked for the Town for more than 10 years, and was executive assistant to the mayor.
“It's not like I'm completely new to the situation,” she commented.
The married mother of two daughters was speaking confidently about her chances for election.
“I've had really, really positive receptions in the community,” she said. “I'm very optimistic about it.”
