James Bolton P.S. community “heartbroken” over vandalism

By Mark Pavilons

The James Bolton Public School community is “heartbroken,” according to local residents.

In a social media post by Meagan Pearce, she noted that over the last few weeks, the hard work, creativity, and learning of our students and staff has been vandalized and destroyed.

Three of four the student-decorated rain barrels have been taken. Flowers that students planted and cared for have been trampled and vegetables that were intentionally grown as part of student learning have been pulled out and destroyed.

“These are so much more than flowers, vegetables, and rain barrels. They represent hours of work, learning, creativity, and pride from our students and staff. Our students created these spaces with the belief that they were contributing something positive to their school and community,” she said.

“In a few weeks, our students will return to school expecting to see the work they poured their hearts into. It is heartbreaking to think about how they will feel when they see that much of it has been destroyed.

“We are asking our Bolton community to please help us protect these learning spaces. If you have any information about the missing rain barrels or the damage to our gardens, please report it.

“Please help us remind our students that their hard work matters, their school community cares, and we can all do our part to respect and protect the spaces our children have worked so hard to create.

“Let's take care of our JB hive.”
