Humber River Shakespeare — The Merry Wives of Windsor will be performed this summer

Falstaff will be in the area this summer as Humber River Shakespeare brings the Merry Wives of Windsor as their annual offering of the Bard.
This is their eighth annual Summer Shakespeare tour.
It will open July 7 and 8 at Dick's Dam Park in Bolton. Subsequent performances will be July 9 at Schomberg Fair Grounds; July 10, 11 and 12 at Town Park in Aurora; July 14, 15 and 17 at Fairy Lake Park in Newmarket; July 16 at Alton Mill Arts Centre; July 18 and 19 at De La Salle Park in Georgina; July 21, 22 and 23 at Thornlodge Park in Mississauga; July 24 at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg; July 25 and 26 at Montgomery's Inn in Etobicoke; July 28 and 29 at the Old Mill in Toronto; July 30 at Etienne Brulé Park in Etobicoke; and July 31 and Aug. 1 and 2 at Montgomery's Inn.
The Merry Wives of Windsor is Shakespeare's rowdy and hilarious comedy of love, marriage and trickery. Hard up for cash, the unscrupulous Falstaff hatches up a crazy plan that can't possibly backfire to cuckold Windsor's wealthy husbands and get his greedy paws on their money.
However, the merry wives devise a scheme of their own to teach him a well-deserved lesson in Wooing. Even with an ego as big as his voracious appetite, Falstaff's silver tongue cannot prevent the payback to come.
Set in the hip and “far out” world of the 1960s, and featuring puppets, music and some audience participation, this hilariously magnificent treat of artful deceit is not to be missed.
Performances start at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation, and the suggested amount is $20.
The play is directed by Kevin Hammond, and the other performers will include Hugh Barnett, Claire Frances Muir, Dan Karpenchuk, Phillip Psutka and Paula Schultz. The set and costume designer will be Laura Gardner.
