Humber River Shakespeare presenting Dickens’ A Christmas Carol

The Humber River Shakespeare Company will be presenting its annual production of Dickens' holiday classic, A Christmas Carol.
Gather with friends and family as five actors, armed with exquisite costumes and a trunk full of story-telling treasures, bring to life the timeless tale of greed, ghosts and salvation.
This year's tour of A Christmas Carol will visit 10 venues, including the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Alton Mill Arts Centre, Montgomery's Inn Museum, and their newest venues, the Quaker Meeting House in Newmarket and Black Creek Pioneer Village.
Now entering its eighth season, the Humber River Shakespeare Company continues to offer professional and accessible theatre year-round to communities in the Humber Watershed and beyond — from touring Shakespeare-in-the-Park in the summer, to innovative and original Canadian works in unique spaces in the fall.
“Performing A Christmas Carol is our way of giving back and sharing a universal message of hope and charity and kindness,” Artistic Director Kevin Hammond commented. “It is a treat and an honour to perform the show each year and I am always amazed at how moved the audiences are.”
Local performances will include Dec. 6 at Melville White Church at 15962 Mississauga Rd., south of Belfountain, at 7 p.m.; Dec. 7 at Alton Mill Arts Centre, and 1402 Queen St. W., Alton at 2 p.m.; Dec. 9 at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 313 Main St., Schomberg, at 7 p.m.; Dec. 13 at Aurora Cultural Centre, 22 Church St., Aurora (part of A Victorian Christmas) at 1 p.m.; Dec. 14 at McMichael Canadian Art Collection, at 10365 Islington Ave, Vaughan (performance included with gallery admission) at 1:30 p.m.; and Dec. 18 at Christ Church Parish Hall, at 292 Kettleby Road, Kettleby at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Seating is limited. Guaranteed tickets are available on line at www.humberrivershakespeare.ca or call 416-209-2026.
