Humber River Shakespeare — Falstaff and the Merry Wives of Windsor open in BoltonEscape the chaos of Pan-Am and travel to a local park this summer for Shakespeare in the park. Welcome to 1968, where wealthy jealous husbands, outrageous “far-out” local characters and the original “desperate housewives” spin into a spiral of hilarious hijinks when Falstaff comes to town. Hard up for cash, the unscrupulous Falstaff hatches up a crazy plan that can't possibly backfire — to cuckold Windsor's wealthy husbands and get his greedy paws on their money. However, the merry wives have a real gas devising a scheme of their own to teach him a well-deserved lesson in Wooing 101. Featuring puppets, music and just six actors playing more than 15 characters, this hilariously magnificent treat of artful deceit is not to be missed. Join Humber River Shakespeare at some of the most exceptional venues for arts, culture and heritage in the GTA, including the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Alton Mill Arts Centre, the Old Mill Inn and Montgomery's Inn Toronto. Performances run Tuesdays to Sundays at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation, with $20 per person suggested. The tour opens this coming Tuesday and Wednesday (July 7 and 8) at Dick's Dam Park in Bolton. Subsequent performances will be July 9 at Schomberg Fair Grounds; July 10, 11 and 12 at Town Park, Aurora; July 14, 15 and 17 at Fairy Lake Park, Newmarket; July 16 at Alton Mill Arts Centre, Alton (guaranteed performance, rain or shine), July 18 and 19 at De La Salle Park, Georgina (guaranteed performance, rain or shine); July 21, 22 and 23 at Thornlodge Park, Mississauga; July 24 at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kleinburg (guaranteed performance, rain or shine); July 25 and 26 at Montgomery's Inn, Etobicoke; July 28 and 29 at Old Mill Inn and Spa, Toronto (guaranteed performance, rain or shine); July 30 at Etienne Brulé Park, Etobicoke; July 31 at Montgomery's Inn, Etobicoke; and Aug. 1 and 2 at Montgomery's Inn, Etobicoke.
