The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating a fire that destroyed a house on Heart Lake Road, south of Charleston Sideroad early Sunday Morning. Deputy Fire Chief Darryl Bailey said the alarm was reported at about 2:20 a.m. by a passer-by who noticed flames. The house was fully involved in fire by the time crews arrived on the scene. The residents were away from the home at the time, and were eventually found by OPP. But Bailey reported two dogs in the house were lost. “The house was a complete loss,” he said, adding the roof had fallen in by the time the first fire truck arrived. Damage has been estimated at about $1 million. Firefighters from the stations in Caledon village, Alton, Mono Mills, Caledon East, Inglewood, Cheltenham and Valleywood were on the scene, along with Caledon OPP and Peel EMS. Crews were there until mid-Sunday afternoon.
