Horticultural Society hosting open houseGardening advice, an opportunity to purchase flowers at a discount and a special guest speaker are some of the highlights of a special Aug. 16 open house the Bolton and District Horticultural Society. The Society is sponsoring this event in conjunction with its regular monthly meeting. A standard meeting guest fee of $5 for non-members will be waived as way of encouraging novice and experienced gardeners to learn more about the Society and possibly to become members. Participants will be able to purchase mums and other flowers at a discounted price thanks to Frank Sant Greenhouses. Cash orders only and purchasers must pick up their flowers at the Society's September meeting. A major highlight of the evening will be a presentation by Marjorie Mason, one of Canada's most knowledgeable and influential garden authorities and founder of the Mason House Nurseries near Uxbridge. The theme of her talk will be Gardening Tips for the Fall. The meeting will be at the Caledon Seniors Centre, 7 Rotarian Way (adjacent the Wellness Centre) in Bolton.
