The teams went into Sept. 29 play with a four-way tie for first place, and by the time things had settled, two teams were still leading the way, with three others sharing third place. George's Arena Sports and Rutherford Global Logistics are on top of the standings after four weeks of play. George's downed Yale Industrial Trucks 4-2, Rutherford left Fines Ford Lincoln winless with a 7-4 decision and Jiffy Lube Oilers whipped Bolton Chiropractic Centre 8-3. Sept. 29 George's 4, Yale 2 Ron Sampson led the way for George's with two goals while Jim Rogers had a goal and an assist and Bret Smith added a single goal. Bill Moyer notched two assists with singles going to Gary Faultless, Rick Geiger and Greg Farrow. Nick Taccogna was the marksman for Yale with both goals on assists from John Castellucci and Tony Calabro. Rutherford 7, Fines Ford 4 Jim Horan fired three goals for Rutherford with Gary Hoxey chipping in two goals and an assist. Dom Spignasi set up three goals. Peter Coghill had a goal and an assist while Murray Hurst scored once. Dave Boyd and Vince Varvaro both had two assists while Romas Krilavicius had one. Jack Gibson scored twice for Fines and notched an assist. John Pitsadiotis scored a goal and added an assist while Dan Labine added Fines' other goal. John Pallotta, Frank McKay and Ian Kerr each had one assist. Jiffy Lube 8, Bolton Chiropractic 3 Mike McNamara had a big night for Jiffy Lube with four goals while Joe Palumbo was on fire as well with five assists. Rich Petrie scored two goals with Jim Moyer clicking for a goal and two assists. Bill Doherty had the other goal. Tony Dinis struck for three assists with Luch Pinarello adding two. Jeff Boyles scored twice for the Chiropractors with Mike Shore getting the other goal. Mark Perrin had two assists with singles going to Paul Speck, Dave Armstrong, Rick Agar and David Shoalts. Sept. 22 Rutherford 5, George's 3 Team rep Hoxey led the way for Rutherford with two goals and an assist. Horan and Bernie Tisdale had a goal and an assist each. Bill Frolick had the other goal for the winners. Bob Smith had two assists while singles went to Ted Callighen, Varvaro, Coghill and Spignasi. Bill Moyer scored twice for George's with Farrow and Greg MacIssac adding two assists each. Dave Smith scored the other goal. Brett Smith had one assist. Yale 1, Jiffy Lube 0 Yale's Greg Morton won the goaltending duel with Pierre Drolet of Jiffy Lube to register the shutout. The only one to beat Drolet was Taccogna late in the first period. Randy Freitag and Castellucci drew the assists. Bolton Chiropractic 6, Fines Ford 3 Speck and Shore led the way for the Chiropractors, as Speck scored twice and Shore had a goal and two assists. John Crossley had a goal and an assist while Dino Binardi and Perrin scored the other goals. Agar and John Van Wagner both notched two assists, with singles going to Larry Pevato and Howard Wight. Greg Collins, Labine and Pitsadiotis scored for Fines Ford, which is still looking for its first win.
