Hall grad makes Distinguished Alumni listThe Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board has announced its 2016 Distinguished Alumni, and a graduate from Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School in on it. Sean Cisterna has been recognized as a feature film maker who's based in Toronto. A member of Hall's Class of ‘96, he graduated from York University's film and video program, and started his directing career with PBS. He has done commercials for Corus Engtertainment, produced the feature film My Brother's Keeper and directed a YTV musical King of the Camp. His feature length documentary 30 Ghosts was developed out of the Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival's Doc Ignite program, and can now be found streaming with the National Film Board of Canada. His current project, Kiss and Cry (2017), is based on the true story of Carley Allison, a promising 18-year-old figure skater and singer who made medical history in her fight against a rare 1-in-3.5 billion type of cancer. “Aside from my teachers at Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School fostering my love of film from an early age, I've also come to realize the virtues instilled in each of us through our education play an integral part in the directing of a film,” he's quoted by the Board as saying. “Justice is giving each character what he or she is rightfully due, and treating them with respect. Fortitude is needed when you approach the 16-hour mark on set and your ability to think creatively is impaired. And patience is key when there are many scenes to shoot, a key crew member is late, an actor forgets his lines and time and money are running out.” |
