Great turnout for 164th annual Bolton Fall Fair

By Zachary Roman

It was another successful weekend of fun at this year's Bolton Fall Fair.

Running from September 22, toonie rides night, to September 25, when there were events like the pancake breakfast and pet show, the 164th annual Bolton Fall Fair was a hit with folks from Caledon and beyond.

Colin French, President of the Albion & Bolton Agricultural Society, said the event could not have happened without the generous support of all of the local sponsors involved.

The Agricultural Society is a non-profit organization that puts on the fair each year — as well as the Bolton Truck and Tractor Pull — and each year they aim to top the year prior by continuing to upgrade and add to the fun.

French also wanted to express his sincere thanks to all of the volunteers who worked hard setting up, running, and cleaning up from this year's fair.

Heather French, a Director on the Board of the Agricultural Society, and told the Citizen while official numbers aren't yet in, there was an amazing turnout to the fair on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Even though there was rain Sunday morning, Heather said big crowds came out to see the “Frozen Sisters” and participate in the tug of war competition that day.

Earlier in the weekend, Heather explained the power wheels derby for kids returned and was a massive hit. One of the power wheels was decorated like Tow Mater from the movie Cars, and at the end of the derby, the child driving it pulled out their friend's loose tooth by tying a string to it and their vehicle.

The tooth was already quite wiggly, noted Heather, and the moment was “the cutest thing ever.”

The annual spaghetti eating and arm-wrestling contests were also highly entertaining as usual, Heather added.

The theme of the 164th annual Bolton Fall Fair was “Memories of Bolton Past” and this theme was chosen to coincide with Bolton's bicentennial which was celebrated earlier this year. Many historic artifacts and documents were on display at the fair, and there was even a Ford Model T for attendees to see.

Heather thanked the community for coming out once again to enjoy the fair and support the agricultural society, and looks forward to seeing everyone back at the next one.
