Garden Foods celebrates two years under new ownershipCustomers enjoyed gift card giveaways, cake and samples on June 22 Caledon Citizen Staff A Bolton staple is celebrating continued success in the community. On June 22, Garden Foods celebrated the second anniversary of its new ownership under the Longo's banner. Customers of the local grocery store were treated to a celebratory cake and entered a raffle to win gift cards — some even participated in a watermelon eating contest. Piero Carbone, the son of Garden Foods' founder, Carmine Carbone, said store was founded in 1982 and was run by the family until June 22, 2022 when it was purchased by Longo's. “We were able to keep the name; we were honoured that they kept the name. It was really nice,” said Carbone. Gus Longo, co-founder of Longo's, said it means a lot to the company to take over a family business as Longo's comes from humble beginnings. “We have all the same staff that have been here for many years,” said Longo. “They're happy here and they're here for the long run.” Carbone said it was a seamless transition when Longo's took over and that customers appreciated the continuity in service. Longo said he and Longo's are proud to be running Garden Foods and look forward to many years of continued success bringing quality groceries and more to Garden Foods' loyal customers. |
