Fundraiser at Forsters to aid school in Cambodia

By Bill Rea
There promises to be lots of activity this Saturday (Sept. 28) at Forsters Book Garden in Bolton.
The store has been collecting used books for Cambright School in Cambodia. Store proprietor Donna Kamiel-Forster said the effort is aimed at supporting the work of Bolton native Stacia Sahi, who took her master's degree in international affairs from Carleton in 2010. She is now teaching English in Cambodia and emailed home for help getting children's books, something they are very short on there.
“People have been bringing in books, literally, since the beginning of August,” Kamiel-Forster said. “People have been cleaning out their basements.”
She added volunteers, including local high school students, have been pitching in, helping to sort the books. Those suitable for children are going to Cambodia, and the others will be available Saturday at great prices, with the proceeds going to help the school.
Saturday's activities will run from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Kamiel-Forster said there will be a magician on hand at 1 p.m. there will also be food prepared by the local Kinsmen, and raffles, with prizes donated by local businesses.
