From Queen's Partk by Sylvia Jones MPP — The HomeJames campaign begins

You know Christmas is right around the corner when HomeJames launches their annual campaign in Caledon.
This year's campaign was launched Nov. 6 and I was happy to attend the launch. HomeJames is a wonderful community program dedicated to keeping our roads safe by providing a free designated driver service. If an individual is too impaired to drive, they can call HomeJames and volunteers will pick them up and drive them home in their own vehicle. This great service runs Friday and Saturday evenings from now until New Year's Eve.
In 2013, HomeJames completed more than 300 rides and drove 800 passengers home. In addition, Caledon OPP reported there were no fatalities from impaired driving the nights that the HomeJames program was on; a remarkable achievement.
Last year I had the opportunity to volunteer as a designated driver, making sure people got home safe, and I am looking forward to doing so again this year. I encourage anyone who is interested in helping keep our streets safe to consider supporting the HomeJames program and volunteering.
Impaired driving can have dangerous, unintended consequences, so please be mindful that if you plan on having a few drinks, don't drive home. If you want to reserve a ride, you can contact HomeJames at 905-951-9000, extension 300, or you can visit their website at www.homejames-caledon.caOfficial Sylvia Jones Portrait - 2014
