Don't miss out on a full line-up of summer exhibitions and family fun, all free in August. Fun family activities Thursday nights and weekends in August will include free drop-in family activities for people to create their own exhibition-inspired piece of art. Aug. 6, 8 and 9 — Discover the Peel Jail and create a “Wanted” poster. Aug. 13, 15 and 16 — Make an abstract art masterpiece. Aug. 20, 22 and 23 — Construct a disguise and play detective with a jail-based scavenger hunt. Aug. 27, 30 and 31 — Create layers on a personal portrait collage. Summer staycation days Think big, think small Aug. 4 to 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Think big by participating in the creation of an over-sized community art piece. Then, create your very own mini take-home version. New activities daily. Family art and yoga Come out Aug. 15 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and Aug. 20 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for a special art activity and family yoga lesson. Learn classic yoga movements led by instructor Margarita and create a unique piece of art to take home. All levels of yoga students are welcomed. Please bring your own mat. Class is free and art supplies are included. Thursday night courthouse tours Enjoy a unique night out with a guided tour of the historical courthouse, starting at 8 p.m. Combine this with the Thursday Night Concert Series in Gage Park (across the street) or by enjoying Shakespeare in Ken Whillans Square for a downtown adventure packed with culture. Summer exhibitions Here are some of the exhibitions that are on at PAMA over the summer. • Can You Imagine (until Sept. 6): PAMA wants to know your vision for the future of Peel. Visit PAMA and provide feedback in the creative and interactive space. What issues are important to you and your family? What will the arts and culture community look like in 2035? Visit on-site or on-line at facebook.com/Imagine2035 to have your say and offer input on your vision for Peel in the year 2035. • In Conversation: The Art Collection of PAMA and the Helson Gallery (until Sept. 14): Two public collections displayed together to create new experiences and dialogue. • Portraits: Moments in Time, Selections from PAMA's Collection (until Sept. 20): Reflecting on identity through the examination of select portraits. • Timeless Creations: Prints by Stanley Lewis (until Sept. 20): Stonecut prints by the internationally renowned printmaker and sculptor. • Wish You Were Here Postcard Collection (until Aug. 28): Visit the Archives Reading Room to see this exhibition of summer inspired postcards and photographs. Archives hours do vary from regular PAMA hours. • Long Moments by Olex Wlasenko (until Oct. 18): A new collection of cinema-inspired charcoal drawings. There is also great value in being a member of PAMA. Members can take part in two colourfully creative, free events at PAMA this August. Aug. 13 is Adult Paint Night and Aug. 20 is Family Paint Night. Prices start at an individual membership level of $45, to a family membership level of $60 per year.
