Fines event raises needed fundsWritten By SCOTT TAYLOR It took more than 30 vehicles and a few hearts of gold, but the Fines Ford Lincoln's first-ever Touch-A-Truck Caledon delivered the goods. At a cheque ceremony this past Tuesday (Aug. 14), Bob Fines was on hand to present a crucial gift of more than $10,000 to the Caledon Parent-Child Centre and EarlyON Centre (CPCC/EarlyON). Executive Director Teresa Colasanti said the funds will make a significant difference to the centre. “I think the event was very unique,” she said of Touch-A-Truck. “I think it was one of a kind for Caledon and it really brought together a great partnership in Fines and a wonderful community organization like CPCC to bring an event like this to the community. As far as the impact of the funds on the organization, we've been I the community for 30 years, we do a lot of good work to support families with young children and we offer a variety of early learning and child-development programs that are really critical to helping children to succeed and supporting families and it's going to make a great impact to not only fill government gaps in funding, but also to expand our services.” At the well-attended event July 21, youngsters — and a few moms and dads — were able to touch, sit in and explore real vehicles from a number of different industries, including various agricultural, health and safety, construction and specialty vehicles from within the community. Parents and caregivers with children 0-6 years of age can visit the CPCC/EarlyON to access a variety of free child development programs, family support services and helpful information on parenting.
