Farm tour was ‘an outstanding success’Thank you to all involved in making our ninth annual Farm Tour once again an outstanding success. Thank you to Janet Orr for having the vision and for bringing it to reality. Thanks for the outstanding support and cooperation of our local businesses, local newspapers, schools, the volunteers of the Schomberg Agricultural Society and especially those of you who drove from place to place with patience and enthusiasm. Thank you to our farms: Sunnyfield Farm, Sheila and Calvin Davies; Pioneer Brand Honey and Maple, Andre Flys; Carron Farms, Jason Verkaik; Wendover Farm, Paul and Melanie O'Sullivan and Eric and Marion MacDonald, plus Bakerridge Farm, Karen and Dan Baker for supplying the animals at the Community Hall. The hospitality of these farms opening their doors and allowing close to 700 people to converge on their properties and enlighten our day, cannot be expressed by words. Oh, but the expressions on the young children feeding and watching the baby animals, and of course finding that puddle of mud and snow bank to jump into. That says it all. We thank you farm owners. I am sure everyone enjoyed the newborn foal, the calf and lamb all less than a week old, the “remember when stories” from Grampa. The opportunity to purchase honey products, your free package of carrots or onions. The beautiful frost covered pines and maples that acted as your guide on the stroll up the driveway approaching the majestic heritage home, was absolutely breathtaking. Something for everyone!
