Caledon Fire and Emergency Services reports they were called out at 9:44 p.m., responding to reports from a neighbour of smoke being visible and frantic activity around the house on Grapevine Road. Caledon OPP had told responding firefighters that there was a working fire in the basement, with heavy smoke coming from the front door. Fire crews were on the scene within five minutes and the fire was under control after another 20 minutes. The fire department reports smoke alarms in the house were working, and everyone was able to get out. They added the father leaned out a second-floor window to drop a seven-year-old child to the mother waiting below. The father then dropped to the ground, sustaining leg injuries in the process. All four occupants were taken to Brampton Civic Hospital with minor burns, the leg injury and smoke inhalation. A 15-year-old boy was transported to the Hospital for Sick Children as a precaution for smoke inhalation. Damage is estimated at $200,000. The cause is still under investigation. The fire department is reminding residents of the importance of having working smoke alarms in their homes, as well as having an escape plan in the event of fire. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2013-04-10 16:53:47 Post date GMT: 2013-04-10 20:53:47 Post modified date: 2013-04-10 16:53:47 Post modified date GMT: 2013-04-10 20:53:47 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
