Dunk Disposal and National Wildlife Centre collaborate on Pet Supply Donation Drive

Dunk Disposal will host a Caledon Pet Supply Donation Drive on August 4 to collect used pet supplies for donation to the National Wildlife Centre.

This free event is in partnership with the National Wildlife Centre, which will give donations to animals in need.

To register, you can call ahead to Dunk Disposal to let them know that you are interested in participating in this donation. 

Event organizer Cameron Dunkerley of Dunk Disposal says he has high hopes that this event will go well. 

In the past, Dunk Disposal has held a monthly donation drive where they partner up with new charities to collect a wide variety of used items. 

This is the first time that Dunk Disposal has partnered with the National Wildlife Centre and is hopeful that it will be the first of many partnerships together. 

“We've been doing these events for going on six or seven years,” says Dunkerley. “We've done book drives, bicycle drives, tire drives, all sorts of different things that we've been able to offer free pickups for thanks to the partners and everybody that we work with”. 

On August 4, throughout the day the Dunk Disposal Team will go around town and collect as many pieces are available to them and then deliver them to the National Wildlife Centre. 

For the collection, the specific items that Dunk Disposal and the National Wildlife Centre are would like to see are:

Cat trees;

Bird cages;

Rubber fishing nets;

Dog bowls;

Glass jars (mason jars);

Terrariums or aquariums;

Ramekins;

Hides;

Large totes;

Kiddie pools;

Fold-up tables;

Park benches;

Good condition tools;

Rain barrels

Leading up to the event Dunkerley says he's optimistic that the community will be able to lend a hand and donate to those in need. 

“We're always looking to partner with different community organizations and charities, that we're grateful that to have. We have these large trucks, we have the manpower, we have people who can run these events,” says Dunkerley. “This is our kind of way of engaging ourselves in the community by doing this kind of stuff. We're always looking for more partners that are looking for more specific items to be recycled, whatever it may be. So, the more partners that we have for recycling and donating, the better.”

Looking to the future, Dunkerley and Dunk Disposal are planning for many more events like this and are hopeful to bring their Christmas Tree Drive to be back later this year.
