Drinking and driving charge laid

A 19-year-old Caledon man is facing charges after being stopped Feb. 7 on Highway 10.
Caledon OPP reports officers were conducting traffic enforcement north of King Street shortly before 2 p.m. when they spotted a grey Toyota travelling south at a high rate of speed. They determined the car was going 102 km-h in a posted 80 zone.
The car was stopped, and upon speaking with the male driver, the officers concluded he displayed signs of impairment by alcohol. They demanded the driver produce a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device, and he refused.
The man was charged with refusal to provide a sample, along with an offence under the Highway Traffic Act and the Liquor Licence Act.
His licence was suspended on the spot for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
