A local arts non-profit is kicking off the New Year with a new members’ show.
On January 8, “Dreamscape” began showing in the Headwaters Arts Gallery at the Alton Mill Arts Centre.
The show features art from 21 different artists, each depicting their interpretations of dreams.
Iris Ranieri is one of the local artists featured in the show.
“Places we visit that are etched in our memories can come to us in dreams,” said Ranieri. “My pieces are always based on landscapes and cityscapes that have affected me, stayed with me and follow me in my daydreams with the hopes of returning someday. My paintings start with colour, and then progress into scenes that intuitively are released through my energy while I work.”
Angela Burdon is another artist that’s showing in Dreamscape. Headwaters Arts Marketing Lead Sue Powell said Burdon’s fascination with the freedom of the spirit is seen in the luminous beauty of her portraits.
“She explores her passion for nature and emotion with an adventurous mix of materials and mediums,” said Powell.
From 1 to 3 p.m. on January 11, an opening reception for Dreamscape will be held at the Alton Mill Arts Centre.
The Headwaters Arts Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday and is located at 1402 Queen Street West in Alton.
