DQ Athletes of the Week — October 2, 2014


Mayfield Secondary School Jotam Chouhan This Grade 10 student is a point guard for the junior girls' basketball team. They've only had one game so far, but the side won 30-11 against St. Roch Catholic Secondary School in Brampton. She also played soccer and volleyball on school teams. Away from school, she plays for the Saltfleet Soccer Club in Stoney Creek. The 15-year-old lives in Caledon with her parents Jessie and Lucky Chouhan.

Hall Catholic Secondary School Calista Iannotta This 16-year-old plays forward for the varsity field hockey team, and she said things are looking pretty good for the coming season. “We want to go to OFSSA,” she said. “That's our dream That's what we're aiming for.” In the community, she used to play in the Caledon Soccer Club organization. The Grade 11 student lives in Caledon East with her parents Antionetta and Rino Iannotta.

St. Michael Catholic Secondary School Hannah Rybka This Grade 11 student is a receiver on the schools varsity flag football team, which has opened the season with a 1-1 record. She has two touchdowns to her credit, and almost had a third. She's also planning to play ultimate Frisbee in the spring. In the community, she's a mid-fielder in outdoor lacrosse in the Brampton Excelsiors' organization. The 16-year-old lives in Bolton with her parents Pam and Ted Rybka.

Humberview Secondary School Nicholas Falconi This 14-year-old specializes in cross-country running, finishing third in the first meet of the season, the River Run at Heart Lake Secondary School. He's thinking of going out for basketball and track later this year. In the community, he's active with 310 Running, and has played shooting guard with the Caledon Cougars' organization. The Grade 9 student lives in Bolton with his parents Margaret and Frank Falconi.
