DQ Athletes of the Week — November 6, 2014


Mayfield Secondary School Cougar Collins This 15-year-old is a golfer who represented his school at ROPSSAA, coming in third, which earned his the right to go to OFSSAA, where he shot a 72 and 80. Away from school, he plays left wing in the Caledon Hawks AA organization and golfs as a member of Club Link. The Grade 10 student lives in the Alton area with his parents Jeff and Cheryll Collins.

Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School Shona Scott This Grade 11 student was captain of the varsity field hockey team, playing mid. The season is now over, but she contributed three goals to the cause. She planning to go out for track and field in the spring. Her specialty is the long jump, and her best is 4.5 metres. She used to be involved in gymnastics in the community. The 15-year-old lives in Caledon East with her parents Sharon and Derek Scott.

She placed fifth at ROPSSAA, running four kilometres in 17:20, earning her the right to compete at OFSSAA. She's panning to go out for track and field later in the school year, specializing in 400 metres, and maybe curling as well. In the community, she's part of the Miller School of Irish Dance in Bolton. The Grade 10 student lives in Bolton with her parents Sue and Dave Rochester.
