DQ Athletes of the Week — May 14, 2015


Mayfield Secondary School Chelsea Crang This Grade 10 student is a midfielder for the school's outdoor lacrosse team, which posted a win and an tie in its first two matches. Away from school, she plays lacrosse in the Orangeville Northmen organization, as well as with Edge, which meets in Oshawa and plays lacrosse in the U.S. The 15-year-old lives in Caledon village with her parents Farrah and Cory Crang.

Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School Alex Riedelshiemer This 16-year-old is a singles badminton player, and recently won the Regional Tournament. He also used to play basketball at school. He's also busy with sports away from school, as a squash player. He's ranked fifth in Canada in the under-17 class and competed at the Junior Nationals in Calgary. “I lost to the guy who won,” he said. The Grade 11 student lives in Palgrave with his parents Monica and Stefan Riedelshiemer.

St. Michael Catholic Secondary School Marianne Correia The Grade 11 student said she's been doing “pretty awesome” at archery, coming in third at ROPSSAA in the compound unlimited class. “The improvement I've made in the last year is beyond incredible,” she said, adding she shot four Robin Hoods in the last year. She is also involved in cross-country running. The 17-year-old lives in Bolton with her parents Kim and Wayne Correia.

He also played defence on the varsity hockey team, which just missed the playoffs. In the community, he's a catcher in the Bolton Braves Baseball organization. The Grade 11 student lives in Bolton with his parents Grant and Trudy Burnside.
