DQ Athletes of the Week — March 19, 2015


Mayfield Secondary School Freestyle Relay Team There's usually just one Athlete chosen per school, but officials at Mayfield had trouble making up their minds, so they named the four-by-100 freestyle swim team, made up of Ashley Riddall and Kira Eggengoor, who away from school swim for the Dorado Stars, and Hannah Longpre and Jessie Ye, who compete with Cobra Swim Club in Brampton. They finished third at OFSAA March 3 with a time of 4:14.62.

Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School Noah Brennan The 17-year-old was a power forward on the senior boys' basketball team, and he also plays centre back on the indoor soccer team, which recently competed at the Tournament of Champions. “We exceeded expectations,” he said. He's planning to play outdoor soccer in the spring. Away from school, he's a rep player in Brampton Youth Soccer. The Grade 12 student lives in Mono with his parents Ed and Brenda Brennan.

The 17-year-old was a power forward on the senior boys' basketball team, and he also plays centre back on the indoor soccer team, which recently competed at the Tournament of Champions. “We exceeded expectations,” he said. St. Michael Catholic Secondary School Jocelyn Coulombe This Grade 10 student contributed her talents playing middle for the junior girls' volleyball team, which made it to the playoffs. She's also active in indoor ultimate Frisbee, field hockey and tennis. Away from school, she plays centre at the midget house league level in the Caledon Coyotes organization. The 15-year-old lives in Bolton with her parents Karen and Robert Coulombe.

Humberview Secondary School Eamon Munro The 18-year-old has been showing his prowess as an archer, particularly in the Olympic Recurve class. He recently shot 450 out of a possible 600 at OFSAA, putting him in the top 150 on Ontario in the school system. Away from school, he used to play house league hockey in Bolton. The Grade 12 student lives in Bolton with his parents Ross Munro and Gemma Duley.
