DQ Athletes of the Week — Dec. 10, 2015


Mayfield Secondary School Jared Gamvidana This 16-year-old played on the defensive line on the senior football team. Things didn't go as well as hoped this season. “Next year, hoping for better,” he said. He's also hoping to play on the school's rugby team in the spring. Away from school, he plays goalie and striker in the Brampton Soccer CLUB, and plans to play football next year in the Brampton Bulldogs organization. The Grade 11 student lives in Brampton.

Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School Kenneth Morris The Grade 12 student was a wide receiver on the varsity football team, which made it to the semifinals of ROPSSAA. He said he contributed three touchdowns to the cause over the campaign. He also took part in track and field last year, and plans to do it again in the spring, specializing in the 200 metres. The 17-year-old lives in Caledon East.

Away from school, she plays with the Leaside Volleyball Club. She's been playing since she was in Grade 4, following sort of a family tradition, as her parents and sister all play. “We play everywhere,” she said. The Grade 10 student lives in Bolton.
