Downey’s Farm excited to welcome residents for Easterfest

By Zachary Roman

Caledon residents were already out celebrating spring last weekend.

Downey's Farm, located on Heart Lake Road in Caledon, was open for the first weekend of its annual Easterfest event on April 1 and 2. It's also going to be open all Easter weekend too, from Friday, April 7 to Sunday, April 9. The farm will then close until May 19, when it will be open daily.

The event, which is geared for families with younger children, features the following special attractions and more: an Easter egg hunt, Easter story wagon ride, a chance to meet the Easter Bunny, baby farm animals, magic shows, a puppet show, and a colouring station.

Darlene Downey of Downey's Farm said in an April 2 interview that the first weekend of Easterfest had been great and that she was glad the rain held off.

“We have all the baby farm animals being born right now, it's really sweet and everyone's loving that,” said Downey. “The sun is shining and people are excited to be outside after winter.'

Downey expects the Easter weekend will be very busy so she suggests that everyone interested in attending purchases their tickets in advance.

Downey's Farm has moved to an all-online ticketing system to better manage visitor flow and parking. For more information and to purchase tickets, those interested can visit downeysfarm.com/downeys-farm-market-easterfest.htm.
