Doris Porter has been a popular presence in the area for years, and she's still going strong.
Family and friends gathered Saturday to help mark a milestone; namely her 90th birthday. Her birthday was actually Sunday. She was born Dec. 8, 1923 in Caledon East.
“I moved all the way to Bolton when I got married,” she said. It was one of those long-distance romances.”
Over the years, the Porters raised a son and a daughter, and now have three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Porter had a couple of explantations when it came to the secret of longevity.
“I don't worry,” she said. “I had a husband who did that.”
“I don't get mad at people and I enjoy everything I do,” she added.</content-encoded>
