DNA leads to arrest in March incident

A construction company on Nixon Road in Bolton contacted Caledon OPP March 17 to report that a work vehicle had been broken into overnight.
As a result of the offence, the involved vehicle sustained extensive damage to the interior and exterior, and more than $23,000 worth of equipment had been stolen from inside the rear compartment.
Police, along with assistance from the OPP's Forensic Identification Unit and Street Crime Unit, were able to solve this investigation effectively by carefully examining the crime scene and gathering evidence that was left behind. Due to DNA, a positive link was made to an accused individual.
A 34-year-old from Brampton was arrested and charged with theft over $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with recognizance.
