CVC seeks nominations for environmental awards

Building a healthy environment requires support and dedication from environmental advocates in the community.
And when it comes to environmental protection, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) believes that anything is possible with a little help from their friends. In honour of these efforts, CVC is seeking nominations for their annual Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards.
“A healthy watershed can only happen with teamwork from government, businesses, community groups and local residents,” said CVC's Director of Restoration and Stewardship Mike Puddister. “We rely on these partnerships. These awards recognize those who are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the natural environment through their conservation initiatives.”
The Friends of the Credit Awards are given each year to people who demonstrate environmental excellence in the watershed. CVC recognizes first-time or long-term projects and initiatives through the awards process. Nominations are open to individuals, landowners, schools, community groups, businesses and youth (25 and under) who have made a significant contribution to the health of the Credit River watershed.
There are a number of areas where activities or projects can be nominated. CVC honours environmental projects and initiatives that may include restoration and natural heritage advocacy, education, land donation or environmental policy development.
Since 1986, CVC has recognized partners in the watershed who have made a positive contribution to the health of the Credit River, the local community and the surrounding land.
Submissions for the awards are open until Nov. 9 and can be entered online at www.creditvalleyca.ca/nominate. The awards ceremony takes place March 26.
