CVC hosts community tree planting events in Caledon

Those with green thumbs will soon have the chance to exercise them.
Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is hosting a community tree planting event this Saturday (May 11) in Caledon village.
It will run from 9 a.m. to noon on the north side of Charleston Sideroad, between Highway 10 and Kennedy Road. Participants are asked to park on Avellino Court, which runs east off of Chester Drive. They will plant native trees and shrubs to increase forest cover. Trees beautify the landscape, improve air quality and provide habitat for local wildlife.
No planting experience is needed. CVC staff will provide tree planting demonstrations. Students are encouraged to participate and earn their community volunteer hours.
“This is an opportunity for families to get outside, connect with nature and do their part for the local environment,” said CVC Director of Restoration and Stewardship Mike Puddister. “Spring is finally here and this is a great way for families and individuals to enjoy the outdoors.”
Participants should dress for the weather, and wear long pants and safety boots if possible. Shovels and gloves are provided but extras would be helpful. Light refreshments and snacks will be offered after the tree planting.
This event is in partnership with the Town of Caledon, Izaak Walton Flying Club, Ontario Streams and Halton-Peel Woodlands and Wildlife Stewardship.
