They can also be a challenge to look after. For the third year in a row, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is hosting a Natural Pond Management Workshop for rural landowners living within the Credit River watershed. CVC's aquatic specialists will provide helpful tips on enhancing private ponds to benefit the local environment. The workshop will be April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Scott Mission Camp, 3852 The Grange Sideroad, Caledon. This is a popular workshop and is fully booked every year. Attendees will learn the basics of pond ecology and how to naturalize their ponds, which helps improve water quality and wildlife habitat. CVC aquatic specialists will lead a guided walk to the Scott Mission Camp pond. Knowing what lives in a pond can help manage it. This year's workshop will feature a guest speaker from the Toronto Zoo. Attendees will learn how to monitor a pond's wildlife using the Toronto Zoo's citizen science programs. To add more life and a little color to a pond, CVC's Private Landowner Aquatic Planting Program can help landowners select the right plants to use. CVC will even plant them. The workshop costs $15 per person, which includes a copy of the Natural Pond Management Handbook. Refreshments will be provided. Register by April 10 at www.creditvalleyca.ca/events or call 1-800-668-5557 ext. 436. Remember to dress for the weather. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2014-04-11 14:07:51 Post date GMT: 2014-04-11 18:07:51 Post modified date: 2014-04-16 16:18:56 Post modified date GMT: 2014-04-16 20:18:56 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
