CPCC Executive Director retiring

Caledon Parent-Child Centre (CPCC) will bid a fond farewell to an accomplished leader and community builder May 1; Executive Director Maureen Thornton.
Since joining CPCC in 1994, Thornton has been instrumental in advocating for funding and developing partnerships to support increased services that address the emerging needs of Caledon families.
“The family is the centre of a child's universe and the home is where we form our basic perceptions of life and relationships,” she said. “When we talk about supporting and strengthening families, then we are really talking about reinforcing the foundations of social life.”
“I am immensely proud of what the Centre has achieved over the last 25 years and I am tremendously grateful that I have been able to be a part of its evolution and success,” she added. “The Centre has an indispensable role to play in strengthening the lives of the families and children of Caledon, and will continue to be a lighthouse to them and an integral part of the community for many decades to come.”
“Maureen has been a strong leader in developing the CPCC into the wonderful Centre it is for Caledon families,” stated CPCC Board Co-Chair Pamela Seidel. “She is a graceful leader and role model with admirable strength and devotion. We truly appreciate all of Maureen's wonderful contributions and dedication to the Centre and she will be missed by all of us. The Board and staff wish her well in the next chapter of her life.”
The retirement celebration will take place May 1, from 3 to 6 p.m. at CPCC in the Albion-Bolton Community Centre. The entire community is invited to attend as they celebrate Thornton's contributions and long-standing commitment to the children and families of Caledon.
