The Coyotes opened the event with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the host Orangeville Tigers on goals by Jenna Moore and Sophia dalGrande. The team showed its usual commitment to defence with the strong positional play of defenders Teagan Preston-Strachan and Tea Marcon. In the later game, the Coyotes faced the speedy Cold Creek Comets and emerged with another 2-1 win. The offence was paced by goals from Moore and Trinity Sinclair. The Coyotes demonstrated their tenacious fore-checking as lanky forwards Taylor Bumstead and Tara Mckendry pressured the Comet defenders throughout the game. Saturday's first game saw the Coyotes pitted against the Woolwich Wild. The Coyotes were shorthanded for extended periods, but the strong penalty killing of Adrianna Maskell and Sydnee Bullen kept the Comet attack off balance. When the final buzzer sounded the Coyotes had won 2-0 on goals by Melanie Bristol and Sydney Bumstead. In their final game of round-robin play, the Coyotes met the Mount Forest Rams. The action was intense and the pace of play was quick as both teams battled to win first place in the division. The Rams scored on an early foray into the Coyote zone and then weathered the Coyotes attack for a 1-0 win. Sunday morning, the second ranked Coyotes faced the Rams in the peewee B final. The Coyotes, looking for a “do-over” game against the Rams, set the tone of play early with tape-to-tape passing and relentless offensive pressure. This pressure was rewarded on a beautiful pass and shoot play from Carina Salmon to Amanda McKenzie and a slot redirect by McKendry. The Coyotes rode the lead to a 2-0 championship victory. The goaltending tandem of Addy Proulx and Jennifer Grant are to be commended on their fine play in all games. In five matches, they allowed only three goals against and Proulx earned two shutouts. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2015-04-01 16:20:38 Post date GMT: 2015-04-01 20:20:38 Post modified date: 2015-04-02 10:48:07 Post modified date GMT: 2015-04-02 14:48:07 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
