Communtiy and home care best place to invest in healthThe Central West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) applauds the Ontario government's proposed $260 million investment in home and community care. As our population ages and age-related chronic conditions rise, a strong home and community care sector is an increasingly critical part of a sustainable health care system. This investment will improve timely access to care and benefit people who want to live, age and receive care in their own homes. Investing in home and community care makes an enormous difference. Ontario's 14 CCACs care for more than 637,000 people annually, and are serving people with greater care needs than ever before. Providing in-home care allows us to better support people, and also relieves pressure on other parts of the health care system. We are committed to ensuring that the government's investment is used to help those who need our help the most. We work closely with our Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) to maximize our funding and provide value for every health care dollar spent. Many people already receive care in less than five days of CCAC assessment; with this investment, we will be able to achieve a five-day target for even more people. The Central West CCAC and our nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, registered dietitians, occupational therapists, speech therapists and personal support workers are committed to improving the lives of people who need our care. We stand ready, with our partners, to deliver high-quality home care to the people in our community. Cathy Hecimovich. CEO, Central West CCAC |
