Community takes ice water overe the head to fight ALS

There was a lot of ice water flowing over the last week.
It was happening all over as a spreading challenge to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that attacks by killing nerves cells and leaves the diagnosed unable to control or initiate voluntary bodily movements.
Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson was among those taking part, joined by long-time member of the local ALS society Lee Pettit.
The cause is a personal one for Tilson, as his father died of ALS
“Social media has created this unique way to bring awareness to ALS and I am sure we will continue to see similar initiatives,” he said. “ALS is a cause that has always been important to me on a personal level. I am pleased to be able to participate.”

These Ward 5 candidates gathered outside the Bolton Fire Hall Friday afternoon. Rob Mezzapelli, Annette Groves, Patti Foley and Gary Cascone didn't seem to mind the attention too much.
