There is also expert advice available on caring for land and water. Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) and the Greenbelt Foundation have introduced a new online discussion forum called the Countryside Stewardship Connection. The Connection allows rural landowners, community groups, environmental agencies and local businesses to network with each other and CVC in an exciting, new way. The online social networking site is easy to use and accessible via cell phone, tablet, or laptop, all in the comfort of home. “The Connection is a great place to chat with neighbors and other landowners in the countryside,” said Wellington equine farmer Bridget Ryan. “We've been missing a platform to ask questions and learn from each other. This online tool will help fill that gap.” It's easy to become a member at www.csconnection.ca As an added bonus, the first 100 new members to join the Connection will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of two $50 market buck vouchers a local farmers market. “With sites like LinkedIn and Facebook, social media is a widely used tool to connect people. This makes sense to connect with landowners and community groups in a similar way,” said Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation CEO Burkhard Mausbert. “We are excited to support this cutting-edge online tool. Encouraging strong engagement and collaboration among landowners about environmental stewardship of their land is vital for the future of Ontario's Greenbelt. This site will be important as we look to grow the Greenbelt along the Credit River Valley.” The Connection is an innovative social networking site and a first of its kind for conservation authorities. Later this year, CVC will be working with neighboring conservation authorities to share the technology.
