And all for a good cause. This will be the second edition of Chase the Dream, a motorcycle ride and show fundraiser for Chase Galea, a local young man who has cerebral palsy and hearing loss. Dave Heydon, one of the organizers of the event, said Chase is a six-year-old boy living in Terra Cotta, and the proceeds from the day will go toward a trust fund aimed at providing him with a better life. “He's a case study for other children with CP through the Shriners Hospital in the United States and Erinoakkids Children's Hospital in Ontario,” he commented. The website for the event (http://chasethedream.ca) pointed out that sufficient funds were raised last year to enable Chase's family to carry on with important conductive education therapy, and both the Shriners Hospital and Erinoakkids have reported improvement as a result. As well, the aim is to raise awareness. Heydon said they raised about $36,000 last year, with thanks going to all who supported it. He hopes more will be attracted to check it out this year. Registration will be at 9:30 a.m., and Heydon said the “scenic ride through the hills of Caledon” will start at 11 from Terra Cotta Inn. That will be followed by a Show and Shine back at the Inn, with awards in various classes. Heydon said there will also be a live auction, silent auction and live entertainment with Larry Melton from Georgetown.
