Connect with friends and family in October and participate in the many exciting programs and events, such as the All About Sculpture workshops, Family Art and Yoga, Secrets and Scandals tour and more. Pay what you can admission continues until the end of 2016. Hourly tours of the Peel County Court House Connect at PAMA Thanksgiving is all about connecting with friends and families and PAMA has many programs available to help people do just that. All about Sculpture Workshops These workshops go on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Explore different sculpture techniques in a relaxed and creative environment. This is a great night out with friends or a unique date night option. The subject Oct. 6 will be Clay Sculpture, involving transforming clay into geometric abstracts. Oct. 13, it will be Fibre Sculpture, using fabric, yarn and other textile materials to build a three dimensional work of art. The theme Oct. 20 will be Wire Sculpture — drawing with wire, participants will create a figurative model. PAMA members will pay $25.50 per workshop or $61.50 for all three. Non-members will pay $30 per workshop or $75 for all three. Family Art and Yoga Sessions will be held Saturdays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Come prepared to hop and sway with the October themes — Frogs Oct. 15 and Trees Oct. 22. Learn some classic yoga movements led by instructor Margarita, plus explore the Art Buffet — exploratory learning at its best. All level of students are welcome. Art supplies are included; bring your own mat. Pre-registration is required. Family Fun Activity They will be taking place Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Drop in this month and create a clay candle holder to celebrate Diwali Oct. 30. Open doors and windows and light the candle to invite Lakshmi. Lakshmi is the Hindu Goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity and wanders the Earth looking for homes where she will be welcomed. Drumming Circle with Peel Aboriginal Network (PAN) will take place Oct. 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Come for an evening of shared traditions and songs. Knit@PAMA meets Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Come and knit items which get donated to important local charities. Beginners are welcome. The new PAMA Tots Program continues Wednesday's from 11 a.m. to noon, until Nov. 16. This is for caregivers with newborns to 12 months. Secrets & Scandals Tour The tour will be Oct. 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Back by popular demand, join PAMA's Museum Curator Annemarie Hagan as she exposes more of PAMA's secrets and scandals. This guided tour will reveal never-been-told-before stories from the collections. Last year's tour highlights included Dr. Dixie's medical tools from 1850/60s, condom moulds from Alton Mill from the Second World War era and an impromptu ghost chat at the end of the evening. Pre-registration is required. Note that PAMA will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Oct. 10. PAMA is a place to explore and learn about Peel Region's culture and heritage, as well as use conversation, questions and stories to help make new and fascinating connections to the surrounding community.
