Save the Oak Ridges Moraine (STORM) Coalition, Earthroots, Ontario Nature and EcoSpark are inviting people from across southern Ontario to Purple Woods Conservation Area in Oshawa Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. “Our coalition is thrilled to be out in the public promoting the importance of water, nature and community,” commented Josh Wise, Greenway Coordinator for Ontario Nature. “This event celebrates an important source of fresh water, but it is also about raising awareness about protecting the moraine.” The celebration will include a guided hike through the beautiful Purple Woods Conservation Area, a locally-sourced lunch and live music. Performers include the talented band Northern Roads and rising country music star, Lindsay Broughton. There will also be a tribute to renowned environmental activist Bill Lishman (aka Father Goose). “We are thrilled to celebrate with both longstanding and new moraine supporters,” commented Debbie Gordon, outreach coordinator for STORM Coalition. Purple Woods Conservation Area is at 38 Coates Rd. East, Oshawa. The cost of the celebration is $30 for adults and $10 for children. Kids aged five and younger are free. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2014-09-19 11:05:41 Post date GMT: 2014-09-19 15:05:41 Post modified date: 2014-10-03 11:38:43 Post modified date GMT: 2014-10-03 15:38:43 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
